How to get Swipe Up on Instagram without 10K followers?

Recently, I was running a campaign “21 Days 21 Digital Marketing Concepts”.

I used to post on my social media the concept for the day. Also, create an IGTV video and promote the concept on my Instagram Stories too.

One of the interesting queries that I received from a fellow digital marketer was how do I get Swipe Up on Instagram without having 10,000 followers.

Swipe Up on Instagram allows to share the links to blogs, websites or other resources. Links are not clickable on Instagram and swipe up comes to rescue. But, swipe up option too has it’s limitations.

Yes, most of the people are aware of the fact that the swipe up on Instagram is activated if you are having 10,000+ followers.

Everyone wants to make it easier for their audience by giving them a link of the sign up form, blog or video directly in the stories.

Let us understand the various scenarios when the swipe up feature is activated on Instagram.

When is the swipe up feature activated on Instagram?

The swipe up feature is activated for:

1. The accounts with 10,000+ followers
2. The accounts with Blue Tick (Verified Accounts)
3. When you run Instagram Story Ads
4. IGTV videos (The trick that I am going to discuss about in this article)

Well, this means that
– even when you are not 10K followers,
– even if you don’t have a blue tick verified account and
– even if you are not running Instagram story ads,
you can still access the swipe up on Instagram using the 4th approach of IGTV.

Lets us see how.

Swipe Up on Instagram without 10K followers

Let’s do this practically.

Suppose that you wrote a new blog post. Now, you want to share it’s link in your story.

But as we all know, this cannot be done without 10K followers or a verified profile.

IGTV is the solution or to be precise an alternative over here.

Create an IGTV video

You would be thinking why am I telling you to create an IGTV video when you actually want to share a clickable link.

Because, IGTV lets you do so.

Record an IGTV video describing your new blog post OR the sign up form that you wish to share or maybe link to some landing page.

Let’s stick to the blog post example for the purpose of understanding. Talk about the blog in the video.

Ensure that the length of the video is more than 1 minute.

While creating the video, give a message that “If you want to read the blog, click on the link above” or “You can find the link to the blog above”

Now when the video is recorded and you are sharing it on IGTV, enter a catchy name for it.

In the description, enter the link of the blog post that you wanted to share.

This is important. In the description, do not forget to enter the link of your new blog that you wanted to share.

Publish the video on IGTV.

Now anyone watching your video on IGTV can click on the link.

Sounds Cool?

But our goal was to enable the Swipe Up feature.

This brings us to the next step.

Create an Instagram Story

Create a story that appeals people to watch your latest IGTV.

While creating story, you will find the option to link it to the IGTV video.

Click on the “Link” and select the IGTV video that you just created.

Also, Add a swipe up button or sticker in your story.

Share your Instagram Story.

Now, any user checking your story will be able to swipe up and watch your IGTV video.

And while watching your IGTV video, the user will get your message to click on the top and read the blog.

Amazing. Isn’t it?
