Interview with Digital Marketing Consultant – Jitendra Vaswani

1. Jitendra, I read that you started your career by working as an SEO Executive and your salary was around INR 6500. From INR 6500 to this digital nomad life in Thailand, your story is full of hustle. Please tell us your story in brief?

Yes, I did start my career as SEO in a small startup company in Jaipur and I knew that my future will be in SEO because I developed an interest in SEO as I hate coding and SEO was about marketing. So I decided to take this job & nobody in my family was happy.

After doing a job for 2.5 years I decided to leave my job & I already had savings of 3 lacs in my bank account. So when you are leaving your job make sure you have sufficient savings and I had savings because I lived cheap & decided to save every single rupee in my job & invest that money into my blogging business. Because in my job I was not satisfied with the money I received.

Now I live in Thailand as a digital nomad and enjoying my life with freedom. I achieved this freedom by working my ass off like 16 hours a day to build my blogging business.

2. You would have worked on several digital marketing projects. What is your all-time favorite digital marketing case study?

I would say my blog BloggersIdeas is a case study as it got penalized 2 times by Google & I did recover it successfully.

So I learned many things about Google Algorithms. I did a lot of A/B testing on my blog, this was my first blog on the internet and I made a lot of mistakes on this blog & learned many things.

My blog traffic went from 100 visitors a day to 3000 visitors a day in 2 years of blogging, then I decided to build more targeted traffic, which means I want to have traffic that has buying intent.

Now blog traffic is 2800 a day and my 2020 end goal is 300K visitors a month which have buying intent.

3. Jitendra, there are many people not only in digital marketing but also in other fields, who are extremely skilled and talented but do not know to sell. Selling is very important whether you are providing services or a product. Any tips for a beginner?

Don’t sell anything that you don’t believe in it, selling becomes easy if you believe in that product that gonna change people life.

So I see people in different verticals. They sell those products which they don’t trust.

Selling is an art and people don’t buy products they buy emotions. So always have emotion and story angle in your product which creates persona and people should be enticed to buy.

4. You are the founder of SchemaNinja (WordPress Plugin). What made you think that you must develop a plugin and what were the challenges faced by you in this journey of developing and selling a plugin?

SchemaNinja was my first product on the internet and I am really happy that I launch of product & it was successful, people got to know me & realize my potential. Many people underestimate but I proved them wrong.

When I started this plugin finding a right developer was very hard for me and I hired 1 wrong guy, he took my money & didn’t work on the plugin. Then the next struggle was to find the right person to launch my product in the marketplace.

Luckily I got one internet marketer from USA. Her name is Kimberly and she helped me a lot in my product launch. I did 300+ sales for SchemaNinja in first launch.

I was really happy & learned many things from the product launch.

5. Jitendra, you are a famous author too. You wrote the book “Inside A Hustler’s Brain” which is loved by renowned digital marketers worldwide. How did you published and marketed the book?

Yes, I launched my book which is my story – how you can become a hustler and achieve the mindset of a successful entrepreneur.

Through my first book “Inside A Hustler’s Brain: In Pursuit of Financial Freedom” I want to help people to take actions in their life and bring change in people’s mindsets.

To be an entrepreneur, mindset is everything. I published the book on my own, to be honest, & I did launch on Amazon & it was successful. I did sell 20000+ copies including kindle & personal book orders.

6. You have your podcast “Inside A Hustler’s Brain Podcast” where you have interviewed legends like Neil Patel and Rand Fishkin. When did you start this podcast and how do you approach such great personalities?

I decided to name my podcast “Inside A Hustler’s Brain” because that’s my book name too.

I feel this title was perfect for my podcast. I want to create an impact on people’s lives as a digital nomad, it is possible to live your life with your own set of rules.

Many times people don’t have the courage to start their business. I want to give them the courage & energy they needed to start their business.

I approached Neil Patel & Rand Fishkin in live events where I was a speaker myself. I asked them for an interview because I told them I was inspired by you people & you guys created a positive impact in my life. They said yes & I did the interview at live events. Be humble & kind while approaching for interviews.

7. Video content is consumed like never before. With the advent of affordable internet and smartphones, even a person from a remote village in India consumes a lot of video content on YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, etc. Will the demand for text-based blogs decrease? What is the future of blogging?

Yes video blogging is going to be bigger & will have more reach, so these days I am doing lot of video interviews with top notch marketers and sharing these interviews on my social channels like Linkedin, Facebook & Youtube.

No, I don’t think the demand for text-based blogs will decrease, you can include text with video and make your content more engaging.

8. On a lighter note, I would like to know what does Jitendra Vaswani do in his free time?

I would love to go to the beach & relax with my girlfriend. I don’t like parties or going clubs too much, I really hate this stuff. But sometimes forcefully I have to go to parties to meet millionaires & make business with them.

9. What message you would like to give to passionate digital marketing enthusiasts?

Keep on creating content you like and give value to your audience instead of selling your courses. Give value in upfront and then sell at the backend.

10. Would you like to nominate 3 experts from the sales & marketing world for the Expert Speaks interview series?

  1. Sorav Jain
  2. Deepak Kanakraju
  3. Avijit Arya
